The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and the Premier League Board have secured USD 80,000 in support from Chinese-owned company, Leone Rock Metal Group for the upcoming 2023/2024 league season.
On Monday, October 16, 2023, the Premier League Board signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Leone Rock Metal Group and this MOU saw the 2023/24 men’s premier league which is set to commence early next month renamed the Leone Rock Premier League.

As part of this collaboration, fans can expect thrilling additions to the league. The Lone Rock Premier League is a fresh start, and fans can’t wait to see how this new chapter unfolds. James Senesie, a Mighty Blackpool fan, mentioned that this deal sounds great and he is expecting the authorities in charge to bring a facelift to the Sierra Leone Premier.
“My eyes are peeled for Player of the Month and Coach of the Month awards, complete with fabulous prizes. And maybe sharp-looking referee kits and more, such deals should be reflected on the game,” said Senesie.
During the electrifying press briefing, Victor Lewis, the Chairman of the PLB, unveiled the first week of fixtures which will kickoff on November 3, 2023, with the opening match between SLIFA vs Luawa at the Trade center arena.
The champion of this season’s league will receive a prize of 500 million Leones, while the second-place team will be granted 250 million Leones. Additionally, the board has announced their intention to provide each club with an initial boost of 80 million Old Leones as the season commences.
