Last year Golden Globe winner Jeffrey Wright’s (you may remember him from his recent portrayal of Muddy Waters in Cadillac Records 2008), Taia Peace Foundation donated 1.2 billion Leones ($280,000) to the Kailahun District Council for the repair and construction of 18miles of road stretching between Manowa and Sandaru in the Peje and Penguia chiefdom, Kailahun. Construction started in January 2010 and was under taken in partnership with Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA and the Korean Company, ISU Engineering Company. On Saturday February 19th 2010 friends and senior management of Taia LLC and Taia Peace Foundation celebrated the completion of the 18 miles highway at a cocktail at Country Lodge Hotel, Freetown. Also present at the event was the Chief Financial Ambassador of US Jewelry Company, Tiffany & Co., Micheal Owen, US Ambassador to Sierra Leone and Mrs Kadi Sam Sumana, wife of the Vice President, Judith Aidoo, Esq, CEO of Caswell Capital Partners, Inc., Tiffany Persons, founder of Shine on Sierra Leone and model Selita Ebanks, Shine on Sierra Leone spokesperson/Ambassador.
