About Friend’s Cart Fair

The Friend’s Cart Fair is the annual outdoor event of Friend’s Cart. It features  fun and games, live music, other performances and networking opportunities.

The first event took place in January 2023 at the Garden State Complex, Azzolini Highway in Makeni. A second edition followed in Freetown in October 2022. In January 2024, the fair returned to Makeni, marking its second event in the city.

“All three fairs were successful,” Mama Cart told SwitSalone.

Mama Cart plans to hold the fair in other places besides the capital and Makeni. “We’ve scheduled our fair to debut in Lungi in April 2025,” she said.

The under-30 CEO transitioned from running a mobile food business to connecting other businesses and people. She credits her success to the support of her friends.

Promotion of Local Content

The Friend’s Cart Fair offers more than a fun-day; it promotes local content. The fair serves as a platform for local vendors to showcase their merchandise and services, including food, clothing and photography.

In the last three fairs, about 100 vendors have displayed and marketed their products and services.

The Friend’s Cart Fair also promotes health and wellness. Through partnerships, the fair offers free health services.  They partnered with the Magburaka clinic to provide free breast and eye screenings at the Makeni fair.
