California-based Sierra Leonean designer Marhiama Suma will present her new fashion line Sumahrie Collections at the Ankara Festival LA on September 29th at Avalon Hollywoood. The annual festival hosted by Black American actress Shondrella Avery will also include other designers representing Ghana, Nigeria, and the diaspora. Suma says that Sumahrie Collections was inspired by prints she saw growing up in her native Sierra Leone. I like that they used full curvy ladies for this shoot and the colors are very vibrant. If you happen to be on the West Coast do keep an eye out for this new Sierra Leonean designer!
The Sumahrie collections is unique, feminine, chic and one of a kind pieces ( no two are the same) blending traditional African styles with western styles and marrying colors that are bold and vibrant. We are revolutionary, we create clothing that are rich in content and quality. Our goal is to bridge the gap, one design at a time. ~ Facebook
