SLFA launches two-week License B coaching course

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), has embarked on an exciting journey to enhance the grassroots football landscape in the country. On Thursday, September 21, 2023, the national football governing body launched a two-week License B coaching course at their Secretariat in Kingtom, Freetown. 

This initiative is a crucial component of the SLFA’s strategic plan for the development of football in the country. The primary aim of this course is to empower and equip grassroots coaches hailing from various regions of Sierra Leone with the essential knowledge and skills needed to nurture young football talent effectively. 

Mohamed Benson Bawoh, the Acting General Secretary of SLFA, in his keynote address, emphasized the significance of this coaching course. He urged the more than 60 enthusiastic participants to approach the training with the utmost dedication, recognizing its potential to significantly impact the development of football in Sierra Leone.

Bawoh also revealed SLFA’s plan for the of coaching in the country, as they will be collaborating with technical experts from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to assess and certify local Coaching Instructors, paving the way for the launch of CAF D, C, B, A, and A Pro License courses in the country. 

This move represents a major step forward in the continuous improvement of coaching standards, ensuring that Sierra Leone football benefits from a solid foundation of technical knowledge.
