Ahmadiyya wins inter-secondary school speaking competition

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School has won the inter-secondary school public speaking competition organized by the Patriotic Advocacy Network, St Edward’s Chapter.

Eight senior secondary schools participated in the public speaking competition on the topic:- “Poverty is the main cause for corruption” which took place at the St Edward’s hall, Kingtom.

The public speaking session aims at sensitising young people on the ills of corruption in our society and how the poor status of the masses is contributing immensely towards its increase.

Ansumana Keita, the Executive Director of the Patriotic Advocacy Network who was also the chairman for the event, congratulated the St Edward’s chapter for displaying such a wonderful and outstanding leadership in staging an event. He said that he is delighted to see the school going pupils of PAN SL taking up amazing adventures in ensuring the organization is well maintained and impactful in their various schools.

He promised to always support such initiatives from any chapter and will continue to encourage chapters to be bringing up such programs.

“We are a symbol of hope, mercy, love and patriotism in Sierra Leone. Therefore, we all have a role to play in the growth and development of our learning institutions and our beloved land of affection- Mama Salone,” he motivated the pupils.

Amb. James Fortune the Executive Assistance of the West African Youth Network, who also doubled as the Chief Judge for the competition, thanked the pupils for contributing towards the fight against corruption within the educational sector in Sierra Leone. He said that WAYN is working assiduously with PAN SL in order to combat the high rate of corruption in the educational sector.

He encourages the pupils to maintain and upkeep the just concluded trainings organized by WAYN on combating corruption in schools.

In his judgement, Ahmadiyya were the victors, followed by Prince of Wales, St Edward’s, Albert Academy, Govt Model, Humaira Muslim Agency and the Methodist Girls High School.

Gibaro Foray The new Ambassador of St Edward’s chapter, together with his Executive was inaugurated and given the mantle of leadership in the St Edward’s school chapter.

The event featured key personalities like Sierra Leone Debate’s Guru- Mr Mohammed Kwak English Kanneh, and other key individuals like: Mr Guru Martinez, Mr Abdul Kassim, Mr Ibrahim VP Bah, National Body of PAN SL, Staff and volunteers of WAYN, parents and over two hundred pupils from various secondary schools.
