
The 2026 Ramadan Food Drive, an initiative of Vickie Remoe & Company and Social Worker, Suafiatu Tunis, has officially concluded, raising a total of $4,234.46 (Le 96,100.90) and fed 176 muslim families during the last 10 days of the month of Ramadan.
Now in its fifth year, the 2026 Ramadan Food Drive campaign supported and fed muslims in Portee, Wellington, Waterloo, and Banana Wata, Murray Town, during the course of the last 10 days of Ramadan.
Of the 176 muslim families fed; Ebola survivors in Portee and Rokupa, fire survivors in Wellington, muslims in Banana Wata community, and elderly people in Waterloo were supported with essential food packages, which include rice, onions, salt, Maggie, and palm oil.
Launched in 2020 as part of a commitment to community support and shared compassion, the Ramadan Food Drive has supported more than 1,000 families and raised over $19,000 in the last six Ramadans, thanks to its consistent and generous donors.

In 2025, the campaign raised $4,535 and provided food to over 100 families and 42 individuals in Freetown communities, including Up Gun, Shell, Portee, Wellington, and Waterloo.
In 2024, VR&C Marketing Company and Tunis raised over $5,600, including Le 25,070 from mobile money donations in Sierra Leone. $2,160 and $2,803 were also raised in 2022 and 2023 as well.
These funds are raised and dispersed to Muslim families, providing them with essential food supplies, including rice, beans, palm oil, chicken, fish, onions, seasoning, and other basic provisions.

The pioneers of the Ramadan Food Drive, Vickie Remoe and Company Marketing (VR&C) and Suafiatu Tunis have expressed deep gratitude to every donor, partner, and supporter who contributed to the success of this year’s campaign.

“Your generosity played a critical role in reaching families in need and strengthening the spirit of giving during Ramadan,” said Suafiatu Tunis, Social Worker and co-campaign lead of the Ramadan Food Drive.
Brima Sellu, one of the fire victims and survivors of the PMB fuel tanker explosion, who lives in Wellington, East of Freetown, says he feels good hearing about the work of the Ramadan Food Drive, and as a beneficiary, he is “very happy being one of the beneficiaries,” and he is “grateful to the forces behind the initiativce for helping my family in the holy month of Ramadan.’’
Isatu Jalloh, a widow and former businesswoman, who lost her 22-year-old son in the PMB fuel tanker explosion, said his son was the one helping her greatly with the household responsibilities. But since she lost her son in the explosion, things have gone south for her.
Jalloh expressed her utmost gratitude to the Ramadan Food Drive, which she has been a beneficiary of over the years. “The food items I get from the Ramadan Food Drive helped me a lot during the Ramadan period,” said Jalloh. “I thanked them [Ramadan Food Drive donors] a lot for their generosity towards a widow like me, I pray Allah continues to provide for those who provide for us,” she added.
