President Bio Swears In Saptieu Elizabeth Saccoh as Deputy Minister of Justice

President Julius Maada Bio has officially sworn in Saptieu Elizabeth Saccoh Esq. as the new Deputy Minister of Justice. The oath-taking ceremony which occurred on February 7th, 2025, at State House, had senior government officials, Judiciary members, and dignitaries in attendance.

In her acceptance speech, Saccoh expressed her deep gratitude to President Bio for entrusting her with this vital responsibility. She pledged her commitment to upholding justice and ensuring a fair legal system for all Sierra Leoneans.

“I am honored to be appointed to this esteemed position. I will do my utmost to serve my country and uphold the rule of law. I will work closely with my immediate boss, the Minister of Justice, to ensure we deliver on our responsibilities,” she affirmed.

She further emphasized her dedication to legal reforms, improved access to justice, and promoting good governance in Sierra Leone.

President Bio’s Remarks

President Bio congratulated Saccoh on her appointment and acknowledged the significant role she will play in strengthening the justice sector.

He emphasized the justice system’s role in Sierra Leone’s democracy and the need for strong leadership to tackle legal challenges.

“The role of the Deputy Minister of Justice is significant. While your immediate boss, the Minister of Justice, will delegate responsibilities to you, I have no doubt in your competence and ability to handle the challenges ahead,” President Bio stated.

He assured Saccoh of his full support as she embarks on her new role, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing judicial efficiency and fairness.

“A lot has been achieved, but there is still much work to be done. You can count on my full support,” he added.

Madam Saptieu Elizabeth Saccoh Esq. is a seasoned legal professional with an outstanding record in public service.

She earned an LLB honors degree before launching her legal career as a junior counsel at the Office of the Administrator and Registrar General (OARG).

The OARG registers legal documents, administers estates, and serves as the secretariat for the Political Parties Registration Commission.
