it Sierra Leonean singer and rapper Jelly Bee has released the video of her song titled “I Gboya.” The music video premiered on DSTV Sound City on Friday September 20, 2024. It has been hailed for its stunning visuals that brought the singer’s lyrics to life. Fans of the musician as well as other entertainers have expressed admiration for the video.

“That Jelly Bee video is on fire,” remarked rapper Drizilik on Facebook.

The video has received praises as having one of the best cinematography in Sierra Leone. It was shot in Nigeria and produced byA-Bangz Originals, a record label she joined in 2023.

About The “I Gboya” Song 

Jelly Bee’s latest hit was produced by one of Sierra Leone’s finest dancehall hit makers, Nega Don. The song was done alongside Deeno Jay. Jelly Bee said the song celebrates life and the spirit of togetherness. 

The song title “I Gboya” translates as “it’s over” from Mende, one of the major ethnic groups in Sierra Leone.

According to the singer, the song and its title represent triumph over a life of hardship.

The Popularity of “I Gboya” 

The artiste released the “I Gboya” song in 2023 and since then it has been on many playlists. 

The song is popular in bars and nightclubs in Sierra Leone.  The h also has over 20,000 plays times on Audiomack, a  good figure for a low music streaming country. The song has also crossed borders. 

“I Gboya” is regularly played in the Big Brother Naija, Nigeria’s reality Tv show. Jelly Bee shared a video of BB Naija housemates dancing to the song ahead of the video release.

Who is Jelly Bee? 

Jelly Bee, born Betty Lamboi, is a creative traditional rapper and singer. The all-round musician has been in the entertainment industry since 2016. She raps for the most part but does other kinds of music to reach different audiences.

Her music career started during her school days in Bo town, Southern Sierra Leone. The artiste has broken grounds and won several awards, including the Bo Entertainment Awards where she won the South’s best female rapper in 2016 and three more consecutive years.

She is currently a member of Abangz Originals, a record label she joined in 2023. Previously, she was with Sugar Flow Factory, a rap group based in Bo.

The musician sees herself as a star. However, she has a strong determination to achieve more with music and education. She holds a Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain and a Degree in Business Administration from the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), a constituent college of the University of Sierra Leone. 

Jelly Bee aims to become a global superstar and one of the most educated musicians from Sierra Leone.
