AYV part ways with Samuel Wise Bangura amidst money laundering scandals

Renowned TV presenter Samuel Wise Bangura, once a symbol of truth and integrity now finds himself caught between two opposing roles, a victim and  perpetrator. On August 7, 2023, Bangura claimed to have fallen prey to a ruthless daylight robbery while on public transport, allegedly claiming to have lost up to USD 7000, SLL 29 million, an iPhone 14 Pro Max, and crucial bank ID cards. The shocking incident left many bewildered and sympathetic, rallying behind the well-known journalist.

However, the narrative took an unexpected twist when an old video featuring Bangura surfaced online, revealing a different side to the esteemed journalist. The video showcased Bangura allegedly engaging in dubious money-doubling activities with fraudsters. This video’s revelation shattered the initial sympathy, giving rise to a flood of questions that lingered in the minds of curious social media users.

The puzzles became more intricate after rumors circulated that Bangura’s involvement in the video was part of an undercover investigation. In response to these grave allegations, The Management of African Young Voices (AYV) affirmed their commitment to conduct a thorough background investigation.

Following their investigations, the media house released an official statement to address their findings and their decision to part ways with the presenter as they mentioned that Bangura was working in a private capacity (and not as AYV Staff Members). 

His action was labeled as a “variance with A Editorial Policy on Investigative Journalism; Conflict of Interest contrary to the AYV’s Public Engagement, Coverage, and Production (CAP) Policy and this may bring the institution into disrepute.” The media house has repeatedly parted ways with Bangura on mutual agreement.
