Sierra Leone’s U20 football team secured a 1-1 draw in their match against Liberia U20. This marked the second game of the Under 20 Zonal Tournament, following a goalless draw in the opening match.
In the 12th minute of the game, the Shooting Stars of Sierra Leone secured the lead with a penalty kick, courtesy of a goal by Samuel Gandi. However, the Liberian team capitalized on a free kick in the 50th minute to level the score.
Gandi’s goal marks Sierra Leone’s inaugural score in this tournament, and the team’s performance suggests promise for the future. Nonetheless, the rematch between these West African sides is set for February 23, 2024, at Samuel K. Doe Stadium.
