Vickie Remoe Nominated for African Business Awards 2026

The African Business Awards 2026 has announced the nomination of Sierra Leonean CEO and founder of VR&C Marketing and the Sierra Leone Diaspora Investment Conference, Vickie Remoe, for the AfBC International Trade Excellence Award.

This category honours organisations, businesses, or leaders driving cross-border trade, exports, investments and international partnerships. It recognises excellence in market expansion, trade facilitation, and supply chain development, and in strengthening Africa’s position in global commerce.  

This year’s awards are scheduled to take place in London, England, in May 2026. 

Remoe’s nomination places her among a select group of African professionals being recognised for leadership and impact within their respective industries.

“This nomination is a pleasant surprise,” said Remoe, who announced London, Silver Spring, and Freetown as the three cities hosting this year’s global tour of the Sierra Leone Diaspora Investment Conference.

“I’ll take it as a sign that I must continue my mission to mobilise diaspora cultural capital for Sierra Leone’s growth.”

Vickie Remoe is a highly influential media executive, entrepreneur, and the driving force connecting Sierra Leone’s global citizens with their homeland. Her strategic focus is on building a cohesive diaspora community and mobilising its cultural and financial capital for national development. A pioneer in post-conflict media, she launched the Vickie Remoe Show in 2009 on SLBSTV, the first independently produced television program in post-conflict Sierra Leone. 

She followed this by establishing the influential Make Sierra Leone Famous campaign in 2018 as a flagship platform to amplify Sierra Leonean excellence. Further cementing her role in economic development, she founded the Sierra Leone Diaspora Investment Conference (SLDIC) in 2023. This annual initiative directly connects the global Sierra Leonean diaspora with leaders to channel investment and foster national economic growth. 

With a digital reach of up to 5 million accounts across her platforms each month, Remoe remains one of the most influential Sierra Leonean voices online.

The African Business Awards, hosted by the AfBC, recognise and award individuals and organisations demonstrating excellence in entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, diplomacy and diaspora engagement. 

According to the AfBC, the awards aim to strengthen commercial ties between Africa and international markets while celebrating African-led enterprise.

Winners of the African Business Awards 2026 are expected to be announced at a gala ceremony in May, in London, where African business leaders at home and in the diaspora, investors and policymakers will convene to recognise achievement across sectors.
