Cristiano Ronaldo’s Engagement Ring for Georgina Rodríguez Sets New Standard

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, 40, has proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Georgina Rodríguez, 31, with what many are calling one of the most stunning and expensive engagement rings in the world.

Rodríguez, shared the news on Instagram on Monday 11th August, 2025, posting a photo of the massive oval-cut diamond ring on her finger alongside Ronaldo’s hand. She captioned the post in Spanish: “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”

The couple first met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodríguez was working. At the time, Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid; he now plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

Jewelry experts say the ring is unlike most celebrity engagement rings. Anya Walsh of 77 Diamonds estimated the diamond to be around 35 carats and worth at least $5 million. Others believe it could be valued as high as $15 million, depending on quality. The design features a large oval diamond flanked by two smaller oval stones, known as a trilogy setting, symbolizing the past, present, and future.

The ring has drawn comparisons to other famous celebrity pieces, including Mariah Carey’s 35-carat engagement ring from 2016 and Elizabeth Taylor’s 33-carat diamond from 1968.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the most-followed person on Instagram, with over 660 million followers. Experts predict his choice of an oversized oval diamond will spark new trends in engagement ring styles.

“This is one of the biggest celebrity engagements we’ve seen in a while,” Walsh said. “Knowing who Ronaldo is and the impact he has on the world, it’s no surprise he went all out.”

The proposal marks another chapter in the couple’s high-profile romance, celebrated not only for their love story but now also for what could be one of the most talked-about rings in history.
