Davido Announces Birth of Twins A Year After Losing His Son
Davido has joyfully announced the arrival of “adorable” twins, one year following the tragic loss of his three-year-old son. Davido revealed the news at a conference in New York, sharing that his wife, Chioma Rowland, gave birth to a son and a daughter this week.
Their late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, tragically passed away in October last year due to a drowning incident in a swimming pool. Davido expressed his gratitude for the support of his faith and loved ones in helping him cope with the grief.
Speaking at the UnitedMasters SelectCon event in New York, Davido shared, “Many individuals who experience such tragedies may lose their faith in God entirely.” The Afrobeats sensation, renowned for global hits such as “Unavailable” and “Fall,” went on to say, “however, maintaining faith, continuing to pursue my passion, and having an exceptional support team by my side allowed me to persevere. I’m nearing the finish line, and I want others to witness that.”
When Davido and his wife, a prominent chef and influencer, discovered they were expecting twins, they were overwhelmed with emotion.
“It was in the same month – my son passed away last October, and my wife gave birth this October – it’s unbelievable,” said Davido.
Davido, born David Adeleke, is regarded as one of Africa’s preeminent music stars, boasting MTV and BET music awards and collaborating with international artists such as Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj. The passing of Ifeanyi last year prompted an outpouring of sympathy, with fans and peers from the entertainment industry extending heartfelt condolences to the couple.
