Fynface has in a recent social media post admitted that he is currently battling with depression. Filled with frustration and despair, the singer made the drastic decision to cut off his dreadlocks, hoping to alleviate some of the pain he is undergoing.

His heartfelt confession arrives just days after the tragic passing of Nigeria’s young star, Mohbad, at the tender age of 27. Reports suggest that Mohbad had been grappling with depression during his time with his previous record label. Despite reaching out for help, he received little support, and his untimely death has catapulted him to global recognition, making him more famous in death than he ever was in life.

Fynface couldn’t help but draw parallels to Mohbad’s story, fearing that his own life might follow a similar trajectory .

“Why do I keep thinking I will soon end up like Mohbad in Nigeria? When I take my leave, that’s the time the industry and my country’s people will know my worth. Depression kills. I am tired of them fighting me left and right. Even if I explain it, nobody will believe me, so there’s no need. Some bloggers, please keep this post for future reference,” Fynface wrote.

The singer made a bold decision to cut off his dreadlocks, a visible declaration of his turmoil. He’s had enough of the relentless challenges he faces in the music industry, in mid July this year, who wrote “Rest In Peace… Salone Music” on his Facebook page, a post that sparked a lot of controversies.

However, in his recent  post, Fynface spoke candidly about the hypocrisy of those who might express fake love once he’s gone. His words carried the weight of someone who’s been pushed to the edge.

“Yes, I had to cut off my dreads. I can’t stand this whole thing anymore. My spirit will be watching as you show me fake love when I’m gone. Even if I reveal the names of those tormenting me in this selfish industry, no one will believe it, so I’ll carry that information to my grave. Then, we’ll meet in hell. I believe I’ll need to go live one last time to tell the truth, with evidence, so they know I’m not seeking attention,” Fynface continues.

Fynface’s courageous act of opening up about his mental health struggles is a reminder that even in the glitzy world of entertainment, real battles are being fought. It’s a call to empathize, support, and uplift our artists who may be silently struggling behind the scenes. Depression is a formidable foe which could be faced head-on and conquered with resilience and a community that cares.
