The opening ceremony of the Central One Football Association (COFA) was an interesting one as Bambara Town F.C. faced the defending champions Kroo Town Road Community.
Hailing from a football-devoted community, Bambara Town launched their campaign in this year’s COFA tournament with a remarkable start. They overcame the reigning champions, Kroo Town Road, with a lone goal netted by Ibrahim Kamara. The high-voltage opening ceremony took place on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Parade playing field.
Both communities featured notable figures in Sierra Leonean football. Musa Noah Kamara, Saidu Fofanah, and Kwame Quee graced the field for the defending champions, while Momoh Kabba, Abdul Razack Conteh, Ibrahim Kamara, Desmond Wellington, and Isaac Coker represented Bambara Town. The stands reverberated with supporters from both sides, generating an atmosphere teeming with tension, vigour, and a true embodiment of the football spirit.
Earning acclaim was Momoh Kabba, the midfield maestro of Bambara Town, as he clinched the esteemed “Man of the Match award”. His extraordinary display of finesse, determination, and tactical acumen proved pivotal. It served as the linchpin for Bambara Town’s exhilarating 1-0 conquest in the Central One Football Association Tournament.
