Two Sierra Leoneans, Mary Grace Fatorma and Zachariah Lloyd Sesay, emerged victorious at the Begin Film Festival in California, clinching the prestigious titles of Best Picture and Best Actor.

Initially conceived as a platform for filmmakers worldwide, the Begin Film Festival provides an avenue for dynamic storytellers and cinema enthusiasts to share their narratives and showcase their films.

Fartorma and Sesay were honoured for their contributions as the director and lead actor respectively in “Clashofera,” a comedic and episodic short film.

The storyline revolves around a young woman who stumbles upon a modern iPhone and forces her husband to adopt the behaviours of a couple featured in the videos on the device. These behaviours are seen as contradicting humanity’s conventional way of life.

“Clashofera” produced in June 2023, is Fatorma’s first film as a director and has appeared in many top films in the country. The film features other rising stars such as Juliet Nanoh, Alhaji Osman Suma and Kadijatu Kaling Koroma.
