MODE by Musu Kaikai Autumn/Winter 2018 Collection: Femme Elégante
MODE is global fashion brand for international women with eclectic tastes. Founder Musu Kaikai has traveled across the world to bring you effortlessly chic, and feminine style. Femme Elégante, the first MODE from collection is inspired by the beautiful women of Senegal. KaiKai says that the women of Senegal are among the most regal in West Africa.
Femme Elégante is collection of midi and maxi Boubou gowns. Each gown is bright and intricately embroidered on an array of organza, silk and chiffon textiles with elaborate head wraps to match. Femme Elégante also has simple multi-coloured maxi dresses.
The Boubou gown is the traditional dress of Saheliene women in West Africa, but Senegalese women have made them their own, incorporating new fabrics and styles to showcase their creativity.
“Personally, I believe that nothing embodies the elegance of an African woman like a well draped gown”, says Musu KaiKai, Founder of MODE. She is the younger sister of famed Sierra Leonean Designer, Mary-Ann Kaikai of Madame Wokie. The pair traveled to Dakar to produce the collection aided by Dakar’s most talented tailors.
Femme Elégante is available online at www.modeobserver.co.uk or in Freetown at Madam Wokie’s Boutique at 14c Syke Street. (www.instagram.com/madamwokie)
