Orange Sierra Leone Appoints Aïcha Touré as New CEO

Orange Sierra Leone has officially announced the appointment of Aïcha Touré as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding the outgoing CEO, Sekou Amadou Bah.

In an official welcome post on social media, Orange Sierra Leone said Touré has officially assumed office “following a formal handover by the outgoing CEO, Mr Sekou Amadou Bah.”

She was introduced to the Orange Sierra Leone team by the outgoing CEO Sekou Amadou Bah at Orange Headquarters in Sierra Leone. 

Bah also took Touré around in a team tour of Orange Sierra Leone’s key operations, which includes the Orange Digital Centre and other technical units, where she had the opportunity to familiarise and engage with employees.

Touré brings over twelve years of experience in the telecoms and fintech industry, and she is poised to strengthen Orange Sierra Leone’s position as one of the leading telecoms and fintech giants in Sierra Leone. 

Who Is Aïcha Tourè

Aïcha Tourè is an accomplished and experienced telecoms and fintech executive. She was born and raised in Gao, Northern Mali and came from a family that values education.

She holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from CentraleSupélec and an Executive MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

At the MIT Sloan MBA Program, Touré earned an MBA with certificates in Analytics and Sustainability, led numerous collaborative projects, and served as the Teaching Assistant for the Leadership and Organisational Change course.

Touré, who joined Orange in 2017 as the first Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer of Orange Mali.

As the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer of Orange Mali, Touré was responsible for Orange Mali’s four-year strategic plan, where she played a key role in major transformation projects, including the rollout of 4G services, expansion of fibre infrastructure, and initiatives to widen access to energy solutions.

In 2019, Touré became CEO of Orange Money Mali and helped scale the company into Orange Group’s largest and top-performing financial institution in Mali.

She was named Female Innovator of the Year at AfricaCom in 2020, recognised by AfricaCom for leading through disruption, building high-performing teams, and delivering customer-centric innovation.

Madam Touré holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from CentraleSupélec and an Executive MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she was a Sloan Fellow. She is widely regarded as a strong advocate for using digital innovation to drive inclusive economic growth across Africa.

Orange Sierra Leone paid tribute to the outgoing CEO, Mr Sekou Amadou Bah, acknowledging his leadership and contributions to the company. 

During his tenure, the company recorded notable progress in infrastructure expansion, improvements in customer experience, and the advancement of digital empowerment initiatives across the country.

The company says it is looking ahead to a new phase of growth and innovation under Aïcha Touré’s leadership, as it continues to strengthen its role in Sierra Leone’s digital and economic development.
