Drizilik Live At Howard Theatre star-studded artist lineup includes new acts and household names

On the 6th of July 2024 the Howard Theatre will boom with the best afrobeats, hip-hop, and goombay music from Sierra Leone. Drizilik is headlining a star-studded line up of emerging talent and household names. He’ll be performing smash hits like “Shukubly,” “Tell,” “Exodus” and “Vote” and many of the songs that earned him the moniker “King of the New School”.

 

Meet the Freetown Uncut Band

Freetown Uncut Band – Freetown Uncut Band” is a vibrant and talented live music band hailing from the beautiful and culturally rich country of Sierra Leone, Africa. Formed in the bustling streets of Freetown, the band is known for their eclectic sound, energetic performances, and mastery of multiple instruments that reflect the diverse musical traditions of their homeland.

The band members of Freetown Uncut Band, including  bass guitarist ,Saxophonist Reginald Thompson (Bizzup), percussionist and drummer, keyboardist and vocal coach, arranger and producer Francil Johnson (Jcilson), and vocalist, aux keyboardist, producer and arranger John Erete (Tyla Magic),  each bring their unique musical backgrounds and influences to create a fusion of traditional West African rhythms, jazz, funk, Afrobeat and reggae etc.

One of the distinguishing features of Freetown  Uncut band’s performances is their virtuosity in playing a variety of instruments, ranging from traditional West African drums to modern instruments such as the shekere, drums  and talking drum, to Western instruments like guitars, keyboards, and saxophones. This versatility allows the band to create rich and dynamic musical textures that captivate audiences and transport them on a rhythmic journey through the landscapes of Sierra Leone and beyond.

The Star-Studded Lineup

Abizzy – His infectious energy and dynamic stage presence will get you on your feet. Known for his versatile style that spans Afrobeats, dancehall, and R&B, Abizzy is set to deliver a performance that will keep you grooving all night long. His extensive experience in the field has contributed to his recognition both locally and globally. In 2023, Abizzy released a track titled “Burn,” which received acclaim. The song showcases his joyful and universal lyrics, leaving listeners, the music video for “Burn” was directed by the creative team at Fantom Shots. It’s a classic piece that highlights Abizzy’s consistent artistry and musical prowess.

Alonzo – With his smooth vocals and captivating lyrics, Alonzo is ready to serenade the crowd. His ability to seamlessly blend traditional sounds with modern beats makes him a standout artist. Some of his hit songs include “Angel”, “Na You Gbaing” etc.

Meet the incredible Arkman aka Mr. Woro Woro

Arkman – An household name and not a stranger to the big stage. Arkman’s music is a testament to the rich musical heritage of Sierra Leone. He made his debut in the music industry in 2012 as a member of the LXG music group. However, he soon went solo after recording his breakthrough hit “Put Kola”. Arkman is known for consistently releasing hit songs over the years, and his music creatively combines humor and catchy beats. Here are a few of his notable tracks.

Mr. Best – Bringing his unique flair and infectious rhythms, Mr. Best is all set to get the crowd moving. His unique fusion of hip-hop, dancehall, and Afrobeats sets him apart. He gained prominence with the era-defining hit “Gee Den” in September 2016 and has consistently delivered a vivid, descriptive rap style since then including “Salone Men Don’t Cheat” “Popo Ose” etc.  Mr. Best’s high-energy performance will showcase why he’s one of the most exciting artists in the scene right now.

Menace Da General (MDG) – With his commanding stage presence and powerful lyrics, Menace Da General is ready to make a statement. MDG has been honing his skills and creating music that blends English and Krio. His musical influences span various genres, from reggae to rap and his breakout hit was “Drink Tay U Alaki”.

Meet Sierra Leone’s greatest lyricist – Shadow Boxxer

Shadow Boxxer – The lyrical genius himself, Shadow Boxxer, will be gracing the stage. Known for his clever wordplay and impactful delivery, Shadow Boxxer’s performance is one that will leave a lasting impression. His breakout moment came in 2014 when he recorded a song “Confidential” with actor Idris Elba and Nigeria’s D’Banj. Since then, he has continued to make waves in the music industry, collaborating with other artists and showcasing his talent. In 2023 he released his debut album “Ask Me Yesterday

Offgaard – He has released several hit songs in Sierra Leone, captivating audiences with his unique sound and lyrical prowess. His recent song ‘Odofo’ has been making waves internationally! Taking over tiktok, Facebook and parties all over Offgaard’s music not only entertains but also conveys messages of hope, resilience, and the importance of pursuing one’s dreams.
