The Peace and Security Council (PSC) acts as the AU’s permanent decision-making body, responsible for preventing, managing, and resolving conflicts. Functioning as a collective security and early warning mechanism, it aims to enable prompt and effective responses to conflict and crises throughout Africa.
Sierra Leone will join 14 other member states with equal voting rights on the council.
Before this, in a recent development, the West African nation was among the countries elected to join the United Nations Security Council for the first time since 1971.
