Bo Rangers’ journey in the CAF Champions League preliminary rounds came to an end as they suffered a 3-1 defeat against Algeria’s CR Belouizdad at the Stade Olympique in Oran City, Algeria.

The visiting Sierra Leonean team began the match with a surge of energy, grabbing an early lead in the ninth minute courtesy of a fantastic strike from Ibrahim Turay at the edge of the penalty area. They maintained their dominance until the 78th minute when the home side leveled the score with a converted penalty by Leonel Wanda.

Just two minutes later, Wanda extended their lead with a one-on-one finish, leaving the Rangers’ goalkeeper helpless. Wanda then completed his remarkable hattrick in the 89th minute after receiving a pass from the right. This secured an automatic qualification to the Champions League Group stage for the Algerian side.

In the first leg, Bo Rangers, the two-time champions of Sierra Leone, suffered a 3-1 defeat on their home turf, making it aggregate 6-2 on goal margins.  It’s worth noting that they had also been eliminated by the same Algerian side in the previous year.
