Protests against the rising cost of living are underway in the Nigerian cities of Oyo and Ibadan.
Following similar protests held in northern Nigeria two weeks prior, residents in the southern region are expressing frustration over soaring inflation primarily attributed to steep food prices and the government’s termination of a longstanding fuel subsidy.
The African Development Bank cautioned on Friday that Nigeria might experience social unrest due to the surge in fuel and food prices.
Additionally, the bank’s economic outlook for the year highlights the potential for comparable challenges in other nations such as Kenya, Ethiopia, and Angola.
