The MTV Africa Music Awards took place in Durban, South Africa yesterday for the second year in a row. Artists and celebrities from across the continent made the now annual pilgrimage to the MAMAs in their Saturday Best. This year’s show was hosted by Blackish actor/comedian Anthony Anderson and based on comments on Instagram he was a much better choice than last year’s sorry excuse antics of Marlon Wayans.
Neyo and My Johnny Singer, Yemi Alade were amongst the performances while Mavin/Don Jazzy’s Dorobucci won song of the year. Other big winders included P-Square who won Artists of the Decade and Group of the Year. Tanzania’s Diamond Platinum won Best Live Act for his ballad ‘Number One’. Yemi Alade also won Best Female Act.
