Mercury International Pays Out Le20 Million to 30,000 Winners

Mercury International, Sierra Leone’s largest sports and lotto betting company, on Monday, March 2, 2026, paid out over Le20 million (Le20 billion old Leones) to more than 30,000 football winners across the country, marking the highest payout for this year.

According to Sahr Morris Jr, Mercury International’s Deputy Public Relations Manager, offline punters won 14 million new Leones (14 billion old Leones), while online punters took home 6 million new Leones (6 billion old Leones). 

He described the payout as the company’s biggest for 2026, with winners spanning all provinces and age groups.

In February 2026, Mercury paid out over Le8 million to 5,000 football winners from its offline and online football games.

One notable winner, Charles Obi, who has been playing Mercury for the past five years, secured his third major win of 24,000 Leones. 

Obi expressed his excitement over the win and encouraged fellow punters to keep trying, saying, “Your win will come too.”

Another winner, Musa Kargbo, a senior secondary school student, won 41,000 Leones after betting just 5 Leones. 

Speaking at the Walpole Street Mercury payout office, Kargbo said he will use the money to pay his school fees and encouraged others not to give up on playing Mercury.
