A 31-year-old businessman from Makeni has walked away with Le1.2 million (approximately US$50,000) to become the ultimate Mercury Bet winner. Known as A.B.K., he travelled from the Northern Province to Mercury International’s office on Walpole Street, he came to collect his cheque after hitting his largest football betting win to date.
Rather than placing one massive lumpsum bet, A.B.K. built his payout up gradually. By selecting just two or three odds across three or four teams, he consistently reinvested his earnings as the season progressed.
