Wizkid Releases Sixth LP Titled ‘Morayo’
Afrobeat singer and songwriter Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid, has released his sixth LP and eighth project titled ‘Morayo’ on November 22nd 2024, after months of eager anticipation.
The album features 16 tracks and includes collaborations with five guest artists. In line with the success of the pre-release singles, ‘Morayo’ has achieved several streaming milestones.

‘Morayo’ arrives just over a year following the passing of his mother. The title of the album, disclosed several months prior, suggested a reflective and possibly tribute-oriented collection of songs intended to honor his late mother.
In ‘Morayo’, Wizkid pays a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, a sentiment that resonates throughout the album, especially in the title and the opening track. This ambitious work consists of 16 carefully curated tracks, showcasing an impressive array of award-winning and skilled artists.
Among them are the dynamic Asake, American R&B star Brent Faiyaz, French rap sensation Tiakola, the soulful Jazmine Sullivan, and the multifaceted French-Gabonese artist Anais Cardot, each contributing compelling and unforgettable verses.
Prior to the release of ‘Morayo’, Wizkid launched the singles ‘Peace of My Heart’ featuring Brent Faiyaz and ‘Kese (Dance)’, both of which achieved record-breaking opening day streams on Spotify Nigeria. ‘Morayo’ achieved an impressive 16.27 million streams within its first full day of release on Spotify, marking it as the highest debut for an African artist.
Wizkid currently occupies the top 14 highest streaming peaks in the history of Spotify Nigeria.
Wizkid is poised to surpass the record for the highest number of opening week streams on Spotify Nigeria, having nearly reached the 18 million streams benchmark established by Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’.

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, was born on July 16, 1990, in Lagos, Nigeria. His mother practiced Christianity while his father was a Muslim. Following his mother’s faith, Wizkid began singing in his local church at the young age of 11, showcasing not only his vocal talent but also his role as a lead singer.
