Ghana seeks to sue producers of Black Panther

The producers of the famous 2018 American superhero film “Black Panther”, Marvel Studios to be sued by Ghana.

The Ghana National Folklore Board has said that the producers of the famous Marvel Comics movie will face legal actions over an alleged patent and copyright breache.

According to the board, Marvel Studios used the country’s most famous and celebrated local fabric, “Kente” in some of its scenes without permission.

Marvel was supposed to seek permission, under the copyright laws before using the country’s local kente in the film he broke several box office records netting 1.344 billion dollars as of May 22, 2019.

Black Panther is a 2018 American superhero film based on the Marvel comics characters of the same name. Produced by Marvel Studios and it is the eighteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Ryan Coogler, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole and stars Chadwick Boseman alongside Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis.
