Sierra Leone Post Op: A must watch Video Reflection

This is a photo before I left for Sierra Leone in April 2007. I am with Adama Kai…it was the first time anyone had worn Aschobi Designs. I had many romanticized ideas of Sierra Leone. Looking back now, its almost funny how naive I was.
I arrived in Salone in June that same year.

This is a personal video reflection on some issues from the time I spent in Sierra Leone. My thoughts range from daily frustrations, relationships with men and women, lack of opportunities for the youth, the expatriate and Lebanese communities, dating, NGOs, entrepreneurship and more. For all those of you thinking of moving back to Sierra Leone here are some things you need to know before you go.

My extended family: From left – AKK, Alie, Mohamed, Aunty Haja, Nyama, Koya, Amidu, Prince, Baby Andrea with her daddy Ibrahim and Hawanatu in my arms where she loves to be on the day I left Freetown.

My wonderful parents seeing me off at the Ferry Terminal. Victor & Bakie

Hi Vickie, hope all is well on your end. I have been reading most of your entries about Sierra Leone and I would like to say thank you for always being so honest and for sharing your experiences. I am Sierra Leonean living in Canada; reading your blogs have def provided me loads of information about SL that I would otherwise never obtain on my own. Keep up the good work, you are so intelligent, knowledgeable and personalable….hope you stay optimistic. Best of luck with your studies and life.

Ps: sorry about your relationship outcome with your friend Adama

    Cheers
    Ishiatu
