Yesterday the front page of Awareness Times read :Zenith Bank M.D. Issues profuse apologies and in the accompanying photo she was flanked by Sylvia Blyden and Khadijatu Savage the journalist whom she had cursed on the phone. The three women were dressed in white.

According to the Awareness Times, Mrs Ikeh-Unekwe “prostrated herself flat on the ground as she held the feet of Khadijatu and her parents”

The Independent Observer reporting on the same story yesterday had front page headlines that read Zenith Bank Boss Goes to Court on 5 Count Charges with a letter from the law firm of Jenskins-Johnson listing each indictment.

This morning the front page of Standard Times read: “Mammy Curse” Bank Director escapes detailing how Mrs Ikeh-Unekwe’s lawyers delivered a letter of apology to Khadija’s lawyers as Mrs Unekwe boarded an Arik Air flight in Lungi to return to Nigeria where she has been recalled and supposedly suspended. Her replacement has already arrived and will resume as MD/CEO starting today.

In her verbal apology Mrs Ikeh-Unekwe disclosed that “I am now approaching menopause…there are multiple problems on my head that are making me frustrated”

In today’s edition of Premier News in the article Zenith Bank MS Suspended, Withdrawn from Sierra Leone, the secretary-general of the Nigerian National Union, Francis Onyekwe condemned the behavior of Mrs Ikeh-Unekwe saying “The lady though a Nigerian national, was speaking on her own behalf and not the views of the Nigerian Union or any Nigerian resident in and out of Sierra Leone….We are craving the indulgence of Sierra Leoneans not to take the law into their hands or generalize the whole situation against  Nigerians because of one person’s outburst”

I hope the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists having flexed their powers and might can now use the same power to promote issues of national importance. Be a united force for good!!!

And to Mrs. Ikeh Unekwe…my sista na wah oh….how fo do…atleast now you are back home in your wonderful naija…abi
