I didnt realise the rain season had already started in Sierra Leone….but with global warming guess we cant expect the norm (Isnt May a little too early for rain season?). Concord times reports that heavy rainstorms have displaced about 210 people and destroyed 57 houses in Kenema. No word yet on any help from the government or ngos outside of the community. Is it the ministry of lands or internal affairs that coordinates disaster relief in Sierra Leone??

About 210 people in Hanga town, Nongowa chiefdom,Kenema district are reported to have become homeless after a heavy storm last Saturday that left 57 houses destroyed.
According to the Town Speaker, Juue saidu Fatorma Gollah the town Mosque, the
Bondo house for women and the resident of the Paramount Chief were among the houses destroyed by the storm.

He described the disaster as the worst natural disaster in the history of the town.
Musu Kamara a victim lamented that she is presently residing in an unfinished house and appealed to the government and Non Government Organizations to come to their aid as the raining season is fast approaching.

Reports monitored by this medium have intimated that authorities in the town are finding it difficult to host the victims though they have succeeded in relocating some of them.
