Fantacee Wiz Kamara a female Folk singer in Sierra Leone has released a movie called ‘SARAH’ (The Hope of The Family).

‘SARAH’ is a short movie which stars Fantacee Wiz, Ellen Keista, Camareh S. Kamara, Reginald Thompson, Feremusu Kamara, and others.

The film showcases issues that are affecting women and also aims at advocating, educating and raising awareness to the government, NGO’s and citizens in a call for actions to be taken.

“The movie comes from real life experiences of women and girls I’ve come across and worked with, so I took it upon myself to take the initiative of doing a movie like this in Sierra Leone to let people know that things like these are not myths but real events and stories happening under our noses,” Said Fantacee Wiz Kamara the writer and director of the movie.

She further called on all Sierra Leoneans to shed lights on abuses, gender-based violence and all other forms of negative issues affecting women and girls in order to raise awareness on such issues people deem normal but are slowly destroying women and girls in the country.

“We know there are laws out there to protect women and girls but we want these laws to be enforced and examples must be set on all perpetrators “kill dog bifo dog yai make dog know sae die dae.”

The movie is about a young girl who was forced to get married at an early age, she then became pregnant and because she was unprepared for labor she ended up having fistula.

Issues relating to women’s abuse, rights and violations like gender inequality, early marriage, teenage pregnancy, rape, fistula and other issues affecting women are on the rise in Sierra Leone.
