For the record, the photograph showing me with Brig. Maada Bio was taken in 1993 after I had purchased a Paramount Chief’s staff numbered “18” from an African dealer in NYC. The staff had obviously been stolen and I wanted to identify the chiefdom and return it to its rightful owners. Hindolo Trye, who was then Minister of Tourism, sent me to see Madda Bio who was then Deputy Chairman under the NPRC in the hope that he could help identify the chiefdom. This picture was taken following the meeting. As a long-time friend of Sierra Leone I have made it a practice not to identify with political parties of any kind and I want to make it perfectly clear that publication of this photograph, without my permission by the way, does not indicate either an endorsement or non-endorsement of Maada Bio’s candidacy for President.

The delegates conference in Kenema only elected the national and regional delegates of the Party. The Flagbearer -Bio’s election – took place in Freetown.
