Heart of a Fighter Part 1 known as Royal Fight

A belligerent village girl, who fights like a ferocious man sees her life transformed when she dares to challenge the prince of the land.

STORY – (4.5 out of 5) Ruth Kadiri did an outstanding job with this script. I was blown away when I found out that one of Nollywood’s favourite supporting actress wrote this story and script. The story was unpredictable and original. The only reason this script lost 0.5 points is because of the way  Nkem and Dubem’s relationship just changed overnight. They become lovey-dovey in the next scene after they slept together. That could have used some awkward moments and eventual realization of their husband and wife relationship to help transition the viewers. However, I am definitely looking forward to seeing more stories from the Ruth Kadiri library.

ACTING – (4.5 out of 5) Ramsey Noah was marvellous as usual. He is one of our great actors and he has never let us down. Watching his character, he evoked feelings of anger and pity from me. You will enjoy watching him in this movie. Mercy Johnson’s transition in this movie was a joy to watch. She tried to hold on to the first character even when she was transforming into the second character. There was still some “Dubem” in the new “queen to-be” Chidubem. It was amazing to watch her show off her acting skills. This is the very first movie I remember seeing Chika Ike play a comedic role so well. Her character was hilarious and she did it well. Look out for a very hot kiss between Ramsey Noah and Mercy Johnson.

EDITING – (4 out of 5) Was very well done for Nollywood standards, but we need to try to make these movies shorter. After hours of watching just one movie, it begins to get a little boring. One of the benefits of an all-star cast is that you know that the actors will at least be able to act. It really is a great assortment of talents. I’m glad Nigerian directors, and producers are beginning to make progress.

NOTE: This movie has a sequel – Royal Fight 1 & 2.  I must warn however that the sequel leans more towards being a chick flick but still a very good movie.
