Hackney boy Idris Elba has joined Barclays ‘My space for sports’ campaign to promote clean, safe areas, for youth to play. The project hopes to provide sporting facilities to underprivileged youth in 37 countries. In this video Elba talks about growing up in Hackney and playing football in the neighborhood to stay out of trouble. He kicks the ball around a little but you won’t be seeing him quitting his day job any time soon. Elba is most famous for his roles in the ‘Wire’ and ‘Luther’. He won a Golden Globe for the latter just last month. He is also famous for being the greatest product of a Ghana/Sierra Leone collaboration.
